Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme: Amar Singh College, Srinagar hosts interactive meet for Principals, Nodal Officers of Kashmir Division Colleges

A day-long interactive meet cum workshop on “Online counselling process of Prime Ministers Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for J&K Students” was organized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in collaboration with the ASC at Amar Singh College, Srinagar on September 18, 2021 for the Principals and Nodal Officers of the Kashmir Division Colleges.  
Director College Prof (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai was Chief Guest on the occasion while as Prof Ajit Angral Nodal Officer PMSSS and Mr R K Ganju, Assistant Director and Consultant PMSSS graced the event as Guests of Honour.
Appreciating the efforts of AICTE of continuing the process of reforming the PMSSS, Prof. Yasmeen Ashai in her key note address said that such interactive session are important for further improving the process of admissions and selection of courses as earlier there was lot of reluctance by parents and students to study at the colleges outside Kashmir, but now we witness they are eager to benefit from this historic scholarship programme. Prof Ashai impressed upon the Principals and Nodal Offers to make their Facilitation cum Document Verification Centres student -friendly by equipping them with required technical paraphernalia and staff.
 Mr R K Ganju through a PowerPoint presentation provided a detailed description regarding registration, application submission, admission, error handling and course selection. “It is important that students are guided adequately at the Facilitation Centres, so that errors are minimized and process is made hassles-free,” he said.
Nodal Officer PMSSS, Prof Angral said that PMSSS is a revolutionary scholarship programme which has ensured equal opportunity for student of J&K to study at the prestigious colleges of the country.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof Bashir Ahmad Rather, Principal of the host college said that the technological intervention into the PMSS has made it easier and hassle-free for the students. “Today’s interaction is a step towards familiarizing the Principals and Nodal Officers with the updated online processes of counselling and registration,” he said.
The session was followed by a healthy question- answer session, in which resource persons responded to the queries to the utmost satisfaction of the stake holders.
The programmed was coordinated by Prof Ovais Shafi, Nodal Officer PMSS, and Dr Tawseef Ahmad member PMSSS of the college. Prof Syed Ishfaq Manzoor & Dr Syed Mutahar Aqib, jointly moderated the event and Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Lone acted as the Rapporteur while as Prof. Syed Umrah Shah proposed vote of thanks
