Omicron threat: Social distancing measures reimposed in two holy mosques in Saudi Arabia

Amid the Omicron threat, the Saudi Arabia government has re-imposed social distancing measures in two holy mosques.
General Presidency for the Affairs of the two holy mosques has called for physical distancing during prayers as a number of COVID cases have seen a sharp spike in the last few days.
An official source in the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque stated that it was decided to restore the physical distancing measures in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque starting from 7 am Thursday.
All visitors and workers have been asked to wear masks, adhere to the entry dates according to the permits issued. Worshipers and pilgrims have been asked to maintain physical distancing.
The Saudi government had recently lifted physical distancing norms in the two holiest places after the COVID numbers had fallen considerably across the globe
