Department of Physical Education & Sports Amar Singh College Srinagar, Organized Annual College Road Race for Men 2022 on 12-05-2022 (Thursday). About 50 students participated in the Road Race. The race was flagged off by the Principal of College, Prof Bashir Ahmad Rather, from Nehru Park at 6:20 am. A distance of 7.5 kms was ear marked for the road race starting from Nehru park to Nishat Garden via Foreshore Road. Adil Fayaz of 4th semester BA student took the lead by sprinting ahead of the rest of competetors and finished 1st position with a comfortable lead. He finished at 1st position with the timing of 27:40 sec followed by Niyaz Ahmad Najar of 6th semester BA student who finished at 2nd postion with the timing of 28.50 sec while Yuvraj Singh of 2nd semester B.Sc student finished at 3rd position with the timing of 29.59 sec. Ajaz Ahmad, Adil Rashid, Wahas wahid, shahid Rashid, Arsalan Sidique, Nadeem & Saquib wani finished 4th to 10th position respectively. The prize distribution ceremony was held at the Nishat Garden where the Cheif Guest of the occasion, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor CUS, Prof Qayyum Hussain awarded Trophies & Medals to the 1st to 10th position holders. Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor congratulated all the participants and assured that the Cluster University Srinagar is committed to develop required infrastructure for sports for the overall development of students.
Principal Amar Singh College, Prof Bashir Ahmad Rather, felicitated the participants and urged them to take part in extra curricular activities. The Principal also appreciated the members of sports committee of the college for conducting the event successfully.
Prof. Tariq Ahmad Ashai, Convener Sports Committee & Secretary Sports Cluster University Srinagar, highlighted the importance of sports activities and also threw light on benefits of sports activies for good health.
The proceeding of the prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Physcial Director, Ms Ravinder Kour, while as vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Pervaiz Ahmad Dar.
