Srinagar May 13 : Sajad Alam felicitated the Wonder Boyz Dalgate Club on setting up a state class cricket team at Hotel Shahenshah here on Saturday.
Listening patiently to the list of “requests and suggestions” from the captain of the team, and President of Cricket Fraternity Dalgate Hilal Ahmed, Alam assured them that efforts will be made both on personal level and with collaboration with JKCA we would try to find further ways & means to support cricket in Srinagar.
Both the captain and the President of cricket fraternity Dalgate, praised Alam for his consistent support, but pleaded for consideration of a few more key points.
“After winning many tournaments some of the players are still jobless. We are not considered for job opportunities in J&K Sports Council and other departments. Please recognise us”, said the captain.
The J&K Sports Council offers cash prizes for winning the tournaments and the president wanted the government to increase the cash prize of 50000/- rupees that was instituted in 2014.
“We also request ]KCA to increase the grant for hosting cricket events” President Dalgate
Cricket Fraternity Hilal Ahmed said.
Alam assured them that he will take up these issues with JKCA & J&K Sports Council authorities soon in a sincere attempt to find ways & means to support cricket in general
& Dalgate Club in particular in one way or the other”.
Sajad Alam praised the individual brilliance of some of the players including the captain on their spectacular performances in various tournaments and stated with confidence that the Club would win all the state tournaments in future as well.
On behalf of the players, especially the first timers, captain Bilal Ahmed conveyed their desire to meet President JKPC Sajad Gani Lone in order to be able to put their demands and requirements in his notice too.
